Sockets are used in applications needed for some of the stronger or harder applications. They are standard in alloy steel for the needed stronger applications. They do come in other materials such as Stainless, Nylon, Plastic, titanium and more. The drive in most cases is with the Hexagonal Internal drive but specials include a torx or star drive. Another name for these Socket Cap Screws might be known as "ALLEN" screws. The originator of the hex-internal drive and have a small cylindrical head with tall vertical sides. Allen (hex socket) drive is a six-sided recess for use with an allen wrench (hex key).
